I’m a big fan of Mad Men and love this!
In this Facebook Timeline and Mad Men video mashup, Donald Draper pitches the idea of a nostalgia-infused social network that “lets us travel the way a child travels — round and round, and back home again to a place where we know we are loved.” The video pulls from Mad Men’s “The Whee…

Writing a resume is such a nebulous activity these days. You have to figure out which type of online resume format is best for you, whether to include a cover letter, how to incorporate social media into your resume, if a video resume is a good idea and what you should include on your LinkedIn pr…

Creative Internship Ideas
Internships Provide Opportunities for Networking
Days of internships can be intense with projects constantly piling up here and there. But if one has the passion and drive to excel, thrill and satisfaction will always catch up. Be it paid or unpaid, an internship is a surefire way to get a job experience. It opens up doors to meeting key people to network with, which are essential to survive in the actual working world.

If you have a flair for designing the latest fashions and you want to break into fashion design, you should have an internship-a chance to work with a real designer and learn the ropes.
Instructions
Step 1:
Study first. Unless your designs are already jumping off the racks, enroll in an accredited fashion design institute. You’re more likely to land an internship position with a degree under your belt. Some websites maintain lists of fashion schools. (See Resources below.)
Step 2
Learn the computerized side of fashion design. Designer clothing is sketched, but top design houses use graphic pads and pens to draw their new styles right on the computer screen. “Virtual Fashion Works” software offers a try-before-you-buy option. (See Resources below.)
Step 3
Consider traveling. In the United States, New York is the fashion hub but Paris holds the worldwide title. Fashion houses abound in France but, in addition, consider Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom, to round out the top five countries in the world.
Step 4
Subscribe to “Women’s Wear Daily.” This is the industry standard for fashion design. Stay ahead of the competition for internships by familiarizing yourself with the publication that highlights every move the fashion industry makes. (See Resources below.)
Step 5
Get your foot in the door with an unpaid internship. Check Craigslist.org and other local publications in the New York and Los Angles areas for short-term internships without pay. If you can afford to fill a spot, the hands-on education is priceless.
